Hi! My name's Emiliano, I'm an Italian guy who loves your work. We are creating an indie magazine and the theme for the first number is "the zombie". We are four pencilers for four stories, and can we ask you of using this amazing pic for the first number? It's just a 200-copies magazine, but we believe in this project... THX
I thought you might want to see this. I was browsing a local tattoo shops myspace and this image has been very nicely tattooed on someone. CHeck it out. I'd be proud if someone wanted my art on their skin.
The sky was just a rough to see if the filter would give me the results I wanted. I decided to be more spontaneous and just go with it. Just like I mentioned in your ostrich piece, I wish I would have left some more open lines. Who are your influences when it comes to linework?
I'm not sure that I'm considering other artists when I'm inking. I notice if what I'm doing resembles someone else's work, like yours or sometimes Ryan Ottley's (we sometimes do similar things in terms of feathering), or Mignola if I happen to be doing some notching. If there's an area in which I've developed a style or gravitate towards a distinct way of working, it's in the area of line and playing with its shape and direction in terms of value.
Now that i think about it, Stuart Immonen, Joe Kubert, Sean Phillips. I've always loved Moebius and Travis Charest definitely knows his way around some cross hatching. Art Adams too.
I considered what you said about line variation in the rhino piece that I'm about to post
